Pubblicato: martedì, 13 ottobre 2020 in Focus

In light of the continuing coronavirus situation, and in line with the ISO announcement attached and previous IEC messages, ISO/IEC JTC 1 will cancel or postpone all face to face meetings through 31 January 2020.

As a reminder, we have previously authorized JTC 1 SCs to hold fully virtual plenary meetings through 30 June 2021

Also be reminded that when we extended the option of fully virtual meetings through 30 June 2021, we announced that the deadlines for 2021 SC meeting announcements/agendas and document submission are to be the same whether the 2021 SC meeting is physical or virtual.

  • agenda and logistical information circulated at least 16 weeks before the meeting
  • comments on the agenda or contributions for new agenda items submitted no later than 8 weeks before the meeting

for Working Groups, meeting agendas shall be distributed no less than 6 weeks in advance.

For the remainder of 2020, our previously circulated guidance, below, for scheduling virtual meetings still applies.

  • WG virtual meetings should be announced at least 2 weeks in advance (as stated in SD 19) and consideration should be given to providing at least 4 weeks advance notice
  • SC virtual meetings should be announced at least 4 weeks in advance.

In planning and holding fully virtual meetings, SCs should continue to consider the guidance in JTC 1 SD 19.

In addition, consistent with TMB measures, we have extended the following measures previously communicated to JTC 1:

  •          Extension of the exceptional measure regarding CD balloting period extended until the 2020-10-31.
    • Clause 2.5.2 of the JTC 1 supplement already allows for a CD balloting period of 8, 12 or 16-week as agreed by the technical committee (8-week being the default option).  A P-member of the committee may now request to extend a CD ballot to one of the durations given in Clause 2.5.2 and this request shall be granted.

Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the JTC 1 Chair and Committee Manager or your Technical Programme Manager/Technical Officer. In addition, any SC which believes they require additional flexibility in this environment should contact the JTC 1 Chair and Committee Manager to discuss.
